There are fragrances that smell expensive, and then there are fragrances that smell like they probably have their own accountant. Oud for Greatness sits very comfortably in the second camp.
This is big, dark, polished stuff. Oud is obviously the star of the show, but don't go into this expecting something medicinal, barnyard-y or challenging just for the sake of it. Initio has taken that deep agarwood character and wrapped it in saffron, nutmeg and lavender, creating something that feels incredibly rich while still being surprisingly easy to wear.
The opening has a proper punch to it. Saffron and nutmeg bring warmth and spice, while lavender cuts through the darkness with just enough freshness to stop everything becoming too serious. Then the oud starts flexing its muscles. Deep woods, patchouli and musk gradually take over, and that's when Oud for Greatness really earns its name.
For me, this smells like confidence in a bottle. Not loud-for-the-sake-of-being-loud confidence, either. More walking into somewhere nice knowing you're dressed properly, smelling fantastic and not particularly needing anybody else to confirm it.

What's the white tape?
You may notice a small amount of white PTFE (plumber's) tape around the seal of your atomiser. Don't worry – it hasn't escaped from someone's toolbox. We deliberately use it to help secure the bottle and reduce the chance of leakage during its journey to you. Please don't remove it.
